1. Introduction
Welcome to Weather, an application developed by Ghysapp ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our mobile application handles user data. Our application is designed to be private by design—we do not collect, store, or track your personal identity or account data.
2. Information We Collect and How We Use It
Our app processes data entirely at runtime or stores it locally on your device to provide a fast, elegant, and private forecasting experience. Here is exactly how data is handled:
- Precise Location Data: If you grant precise location permissions, the app uses your device's GPS coordinates at runtime to fetch the current weather, hourly, and daily forecasts for your exact location from our data source (WeatherAPI.com). This data is never stored remotely, never linked to an identity, and never sold.
- Approximate Location Data: If precise location access is denied, the app falls back to an IP-based approximate location (such as a zip code) via an API endpoint to drive your forecast. A banner remains inside the app to let you upgrade to precise GPS tracking if you choose.
- Local Saved Data: Your saved preferences, language selections, choice of temperature ordering (Celsius or Fahrenheit first), up to 4 saved favorite cities, and weather cache are stored 100% locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This data is covered by your standard device system backups (iCloud Backup on iOS / Android Auto Backup) so it returns on reinstall, but it is never synced to an external server controlled by us.
3. No Accounts or Sign-In
The application features no account creation or sign-in requirements. We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any identifiers that could link the application's use to a specific individual.
4. Third-Party Services and Advertising
To support the application, we use third-party service providers that may process data under their own privacy terms:
- WeatherAPI.com: Weather queries are sent to WeatherAPI.com to fetch real-time forecasts. Condition descriptions are localized server-side. No identifying user data is attached to these requests.
- Advertising (Google AdMob mediation): Unless you purchase the "Remove Ads" entitlement, the app displays anchored adaptive banner advertisements through Google AdMob. AdMob acts as a mediation layer: for each ad request it selects among several advertising networks — currently AppLovin and Mintegral — in addition to Google's own ad inventory. Whichever network serves a given ad may collect and process device information (such as your advertising identifier — IDFA on iOS or Advertising ID on Android — approximate/IP-based location, and app-usage and interaction data) in order to select, deliver, frequency-cap, and measure ads. Depending on your consent choices and, on iOS, your App Tracking Transparency response, this data may be used for personalized (interest-based) or only non-personalized (contextual) advertising. We do not control the content of individual ads or the independent data practices of these networks; their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies:
- Your advertising choices: Where required by law, the app presents a consent form (via Google's User Messaging Platform) before any personalized ads are served, and on iOS it presents Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. You can change these choices at any time in your device settings, and you can remove ads entirely with the one-time "Remove Ads" purchase. If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, you may withhold or withdraw consent. If you are a California resident, the sharing of advertising identifiers with these partners may constitute a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under the CCPA/CPRA; you can opt out by declining consent or purchasing "Remove Ads."
- In-App Purchases: We offer a one-time non-consumable in-app purchase to remove advertisements. Transaction processing is handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We rely on local device validation and the store as the single source of truth; we do not maintain a user transaction database.
5. Data Retention and Security
Because your settings, saved cities, and app entitlements are stored completely on your local device, you control your data. Deleting the application from your device will permanently remove all locally cached weather data and user configurations.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any updates will be reflected on this page with a revised effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
